Idles Announces Fall 2021 Beauty From Ashes Tour Dates

UK punk band Idles are planning to tour the United States this fall following the success of their 2020 album Ultra Mono. Tickets will be available for pre-sale tomorrow, April 28 at 12 p.m. ET for fans on Idles’ mailing list. General sale begins on Friday, April 30 at 12 p.m. ET.

New York band Gustaf will open for them on the first leg of the tour and Portland, OR band Lithics will take over support for the second. Gustaf is a new band that formed in 2018 and has only released two songs so far, “Mine” and “Design.” Lithics has been around since 2014 and are also set to open for Bikini Kill this September. They also had plans to open for Mdou Moctar in 2020, but they were canceled due to the pandemic.

Ultra Mono is Idles’ third album following Brutalism (2017) and Joy as an Act of Resistance (2018). It’s packed full of relevant social commentary across songs like “A Hymn,” “Model Village” and “Kill Them With Kindness” featuring David Yow & Jamie Cullum. Aside from releasing the album, Idles also recently guested on song by The Streets called “None of Us Are Getting Out of This Life Alive,” covered The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” and The Strokes’ “Reptilia” live, appeared on Gang of Four tribute compilation and covered Sharon Van Etten’s “Peace Signs.” They were also announced to be playing Glastonbury’s Live at Worthy Farm livestream festival in May.

The US tour will last for about a month, with plenty of shows during that timespan. Some notable venues Idles intends to play include Chicago’s Riviera Theatre, New York City’s Terminal 5, Austin’s Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheatre and Los Angeles’ Fonda Theatre.
