Kacey Musgraves just played at Boston’s TD Garden, where she paid tribute to the late Dolly Parton, less than a week after her sad passing due to her brief battle with cancer. Musgraves is currently touring her recent album, Middle Of Nowhere, which was released back in May under Lost Highway Records. In addition to performing songs from the recent album, as well as some of her most well-known hits, Kacey covered Parton’s 1977 song “Here You Come Again”.
The performance started with a speech to honor Parton, where she highlighted her kindness, artistry, and the way she served as a musical trailblazer. While performing “Here You Come Again”, Musgraves performed with her signature crystal clear yet soulful vocals. She took the moment to honor Parton perfectly. You could definitely tell her heart was in the performance the entire way through. Check out a video of the performance below!

In addition to honoring Parton with her cover of “Here You Come Again”, Musgraves also surprised the Boston crowd by performing the fan-favorite song “Rainbow”. According to NME, this served as the first performance of this song on her Middle Of Nowhere Tour. Before performing “Rainbow”, Musgraves told the audience that Parton was a big inspiration behind the song. She led into the performance by saying, “Let’s all sing this together for her memory”. While singing the song, the screens rotated through photos of Parton throughout her life. Musgraves actually performed with Parton back at the 2019 Grammys, along with Katy Perry.
