Today, acclaimed singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding has released the official music video for her brand-new single, “Ravers”, which is taken from her highly anticipated sixth studio album, I Know Too Much, that will be released on September, through Polydor Records. The song feels like a full-circle moment for an artist who has soundtracked some of the defining dance records for the past decade through collaborations with Calvin Harris, Four Tet, Skrillex and other acts.
Here, however, Goulding steps into the electronic spotlight alone, delivering an ode to the dancefloor that pairs primal, pulse-racing production with one of her most commanding vocal performances to date. Directed by cinematographer and filmmaker Sean Price Williams (Addison Rae, Sabrina Carpenter), the accompanying music video for “Ravers” was shot in Brooklyn’s Bushwick neighbourhood and finds Goulding immersed in a sweat-soaked night on the dancefloor, capturing the euphoric energy at the heart of the track.
Following the caustic “Black Prada Dress” and the intimate “4 Seasons“, “Ravers” marks a euphoric high point on I Know Too Much and Ellie Goulding’s first-ever solo electronic single. While speaking to Zane Lowe following the track’s premiere on Apple Music, Goulding said: “It took me back to a very safe and beautiful place when I was a kid. I grew up listening to electronic music, and it did give me this sense of freedom back… I decided to release it a couple of weeks ago because this is the song that I feel is closest to me right now – my happy place.
