According to pitchfork.com artist Lana Del Rey has shared the second single from her upcoming album Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. Del Rey co-wrote and co-produced the new song “A&W,” with  collaborator Jack Antonoff.

“A&W” is an elegant ditty that shows who Del Rey is as an artist.  As whole, the bittersweet piano playing brings an sentimental feeling by how each key contributes to the strong emotions Del Ray is showing through her vocal performance.  While listening, Del Rey‘s  voice blends in well with the instrumentation by how lightly she sings in pure passion. “A&W” proves how much Del Rey has grown as an artist because her music is becoming more meaningful.

According to Yahoo Entertainment the artist explained  “A&W,” is  about femininity, sexuality, criticism and as the artist puts it, “the experience of being an American whore.”

The tune is really two songs in one, the first floating lightly over pianos and acoustic guitars and the second descending into darkness over pulsing 808s. The initial, longer movement opens with Del Rey putting some distance between herself and childhood.

Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd  will be released on March 24 and Del Rey shared the album’s title track which she co-produced with Jack Antonoff, Drew Erickson, and Zach Dawes last December. The collaborators on the upcomingn album include Father John Misty, Jon Batiste, Syml, Riopy and Tommy Genesis.
