Charli XCX, The 1975 and No Rome have teamed up to release the new single “Spinning.” Alongside the release, the trio has shared an accompanying music video in collaboration with Venturia Animation Studios which features characters created by Hideyuki Tanaka.
With catchy pop vocals and a repetitive chorus, the track brings to life an upbeat world. High-pitched vocals and auto-tuned lyrics, the keyboards and pinging instrumentals matching the poppy track. The disco-filled music video features animated ice-cream cones and smiling faces, the world dancing about before kaleidoscope backgrounds.
Falling into the ocean, characters for each artist spend a fun-filled day swimming with sea creatures and floating in outer space. They dance together during the chorus, repeating “spinning on the ground” six times before returning to another high-pitched auto-tuned verse.
Charli XCX appeared during Bonnaroo’s virtual festival last September, at this years’ SXSW festival, her upcoming documentary Alone Together is planned to premiere. Nasty Cherry, an alternative band curated by Charli XCX, recently released the single “Her Body,” a song co-written by Charli XCX and Yves Rothman. Last May, the singer released her album How I’m Feeling Now, which was led by the singles “i finally understand” and “Claws.”
