Co-creator of the show Ted Lasso, Jason Sudeikis, made a guest appearance at Mumford & Sons’ concert to perform the show’s theme song. The show took place on Tuesday night in New York City. He appeared about half way into the show when camera panned to him in the audience. He was nodding his head in the audience when the camera first found him. Then, the Hollywood Reporter claims that he smiled and ran up on stage to finish the song with the band, which was met with roaring applause from the audience.
Sudeikis performing the song with the band Mumford & Sons makes perfect sense, as the theme song was actually co-written and composed by Tom Howe in collaboration with Mumford & Sons frontman, Marcus Mumford, who also performs the version of the song that plays during the show. Funnily, later during the Tuesday night show, Mumford told the audience to quiet down or else he would “stick Ted” on them. Check out the performance below!

Sudeikis’ performance with Mumford & Sons comes as Ted Lasso’s fourth season airs, after Sudeikis had planned for the show to end after its 3rd season in 2023. The Hollywood Reporter shares that he was having second thoughts once season 3 ended, which led him to develop an extra 4th season.
There was actually another theme song performed at the show, for the movie Inside llewyn Davis. The star of that movie, Oscar Isaac, ended up joining Mumford & Sons to perform song later in the night. The performances with Isaac and Sudeikis also come after the band surprised the audience with special appearances from Shania Twain and Hozier during their show at BST Hyde Park.
