Build Art Make Change Announces New Benefit Compilation Album Contra-ICE Vol.1: ICE OUT Featuring Tom Morello, Ozomalti, Jello Biafra and More For October 2026 Release

Build Art Make Change has announced a benefit compilation album that works to fight for and advocate for immigrant rights, while protesting inhumane immigration enforcement. The album is titled Contra-ICE Vol.1: ICE OUT, and will be released on October 2nd through SoundsGood Records. This compilation album will feature more than 30 different artists. Ozomatli, Kathleen Hanna, Ad-Rock, Tom Morello, Fred Armisen, Fishbone, Money Mark, David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets) and Jello Biafra are among some of the artists included on Contra-ICE Vol.1: ICE OUT.

In their own words, Build Art Make Change, known as BAMC for short, is a “nonprofit organization that works to empower vulnerable communities by harnessing artistic expression to raise awareness, shift public discourse and drive meaningful policy reform.” Their press release also touches on how the organization focuses on their goal of keeping families united and building economic stability in immigrant communities, rather than spending time and effort on abstract political debates. 

The founder of BAMC, Dali Colorado released a statement on the album that said, Contra-ICE is not only an album. It is not only a collective. It is a cultural infrastructure built to support frontline organizations, amplify immigrant voices, and mobilize creatives who believe that love is not passive; it’s organized. Music has always been my first language. Justice has always been my inheritance. Contra-ICE is where those two lineages meet, urgently, unapologetically, and with LOVE OVER FEAR. As a DJ, I approached this project as a curator, carefully crafting a listening experience that unfolds as a journey. Every track, transition, and voice serves a purpose, inviting listeners to move through moments of grief, anger, resilience, hope, and ultimately, action. My hope is that people don’t simply hear this album—they feel it, connect with it, and leave inspired to create change in their own communities. From beginning to end, it tells a story, weaving together music, comedy, and spoken word from a diverse community of artists responding to the inhumane treatment perpetuated by today’s fascist ICE state.”

Contra-Ice’s artistic director and cartoonist, Lalo Alcaraz, also elaborated on the album by saying, “Artists, musicians, performers, and decent people from all walks of life are pushing back against the authoritarianism we are feeling in our own country. Contra-ICE is one expression of that. Through art, humor, and creativity, we are using free expression to remind people what is at stake and to show how culture itself can be a form of resistance.”

Profit earned from purchases and streams of Contra-ICE Vol.1: ICE OUT will go directly to organizations advocating for the same causes as BAMC. This included National Day Laborer Organizing Network, as well as Unión de Barrio. Both of these organizations go towards defending labor rights and protecting community-built wealth. On October 3rd, BAMC will be hosting a day of performances from artists that appear on Contra-ICE Vol.1: ICE OUT. That will take place at La Cita in Los Angeles.
