Flying Lotus, a talented musician known for mixing different music styles and being very creative, has released a new song called “It’s Out There.” This track is from the soundtrack of his latest movie project named “Ash,” which he directed. The film is a sci-fi horror thriller featuring Eiza González and Aaron Paul. The song has an eerie electronic vibe with pulsing synthesizers that adds excitement to the story about surviving on an unknown alien planet.

Flying Lotus created a unique and vast musical backdrop for the film, inspired by early synth musicians like John Carpenter and Vangelis. This music fits well with the film’s surprising and tense story. Mostly recorded in New Zealand after filming ended, it features atmospheric layers of synthesizers, steady beats, and sci-fi sounds that draw listeners into the alien world of “Ash.”

The song “It’s Out There” plays during an important scene in the movie, heightening the feeling of fear as characters face both mental and physical challenges. This track, along with others like the intense opening piece “Oxygene” and the richly orchestrated “What’s Wrong Peach?” featuring violinist Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, highlights Flying Lotus’s broad musical talents. Working with artists such as experimental producer Little Snake on “Confronted,” adds more variety to the soundtrack’s sound.

Flying Lotus says, “Working on the music was inspiring but also tough… I got ideas from composers who mainly used synths for soundtracks.” His dedication to creating a unique soundtrack shows in the powerful tracks that shift from spooky to exciting, matching the characters’ dangerous adventure.

The “Ash” soundtrack is more than just a bunch of songs; it’s an important part of the movie’s character. It helps take viewers through the film’s mood changes and captures its emotional ups and downs. Besides “It’s Out There,” it includes other interesting pieces, ending with Niki Randa singing “Obey” during the credits. The whole album can now be listened to online, giving both fans and new listeners a chance to dive into the exciting world of “Ash.”

Flying Lotus keeps breaking boundaries with his creative and unique sound on this project, showing that he’s a leader in music and visuals. His work spans various art forms—from winning Grammy awards for his music to receiving praise for his films—demonstrating an artist dedicated to pushing the limits of modern art.
