The Foo Fighters have stayed busy this year — with new music, music videos and show announcements — and they spiced up a recent show in Vegas with a guest appearance by none other than Kiss’ Gene Simmons. According to Consequence, frontman Dave Grohl did a brief impersonation of the artist before he joined them on stage. Watch the video below.
“All right,” Grohl said. “We’ve got a rock show now… Listen, Gene Simmons — legendary bass player. I had posters of that motherf**ker on my wall when I was a kid. Hold on, let me rephrase that — I still have posters of Gene Simmons on my f**king wall at home.”
Earlier this week, Grohl covered Kiss’ “Rock and Roll All Night” as part of his second annual Hanukkah series, where he and Greg Kurstin cover songs by Jewish artists for each day of the holiday. Kiss and Foo Fighters will soon be sharing the stage again, as they are both headliners for the 2022 Welcome to Rockville festival.
Kiss was supposed to perform in Las Vegas for a winter residency, but they had to cancel as result of “criticism over an allegedly lenient covid protocol.” They had to postpone shows after several of the members tested positive for the virus. Although they won’t be playing these 12 shows, they can now collaborate with groups as they did with the Foo Fighters.
