FKA Twigs Participates In The Join The Chorus Initiative

Alternative R&B visionary FKA Twigs has released a video on behalf of the Join The Chorus Initiative, which seeks the prevention of domestic and sexual violence. This initiative was launched by the United Nations General Assembly in response to a rise of domestic violence and sexual assault incidents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Home, it should be a space where we all feel safe,” FKA Twigs explains in the video. “But for some home can be a dangerous place, with no escape. But where one voice may go unheard, a chorus cannot be ignored. Together, we can free those harmed by domestic and sexual violence. Join the chorus, and say, no more.”

Last December FKA Twigs made several allegations against her former significant other and actor Shia LaBeouf, which involved alleged sexual battery, alleged assault and alleged infliction of emotional distress. LaBeouf’s attorneys have denied these accusations, alleging that the actor’s behavior throughout their relationship was “necessary for his self-defense and/or safety.”

Last fall FKA Twigs announced that she had recorded an album during quarantine, and revealed some details regarding the project back in January. The artist also had private conversation with hip hop star Lil Nas X, regarding the similarities between the singer’s “Cellophane” and the rapper’s “MONTERO” video. At the start of the year FKA Twigs revealed a collaborative track with UK rapper Headie One and producer Fred again.. for the song “Don’t Judge Me.” The track was accompanied by a music video directed by Emmanuel Adjei, who also co-directed Beyoncé’s Black Is King.
