St. Vincent to Release Record Store Day 7″ Featuring a Cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Piggy” with Dave Grohl and Metallica’s “Sad But True”

St. Vincent flexed her way through a memorable set on the Outdoor Stage.

St. Vincent has  shared that she will be releasing a 7” which includes a cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Piggy,” featuring Dave Grohl on drums, and Metallica’s “Sad But True.” The release will be made available on July 17, 2022.

St. Vincent has played with Dave Grohl and the other surviving members of Nirvana, Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear, when the band has joined for reunions on stage. Last year, she and Beck joined the surviving Nirvana members on stage as they played “Lithium,” “In Bloom,” “Been a Son,” “Heart-Shaped Box” and “The Man Who Sold the World.”

St. Vincent will be releasing her upcoming album, Daddy’s Home, on May 14. The album was influenced by ‘70s disco, and follows 2017’s MASSEDUCATION. She had shared last month that her initial plans for the album were for it to be heavier, “like Too.” Despite taking a different approach when it came to creating Daddy’s Home, the artist promised that she will get around to writing a heavier record sometime in the future.

The upcoming Daddy’s Home has already been led by two singles, “Pay Your Way In Pain” and “The Melting of The Sun.” St. Vincent also has an appearance on Paul McCartney’s new album, III Imagined.

Record Store Day will take place on two dates this year, the first on June 12, and the second on July 17. This follows similar approach to how the event had been held last year, with three dates in order to offset large crowds in the midst of the pandemic. This year’s ambassador for the event will be Fred Armisen.

Another release that will appear on this year’s upcoming Record Store Day will be Charlie Benante, Alex Skolnick and Ra Diaz’s EP filled with Rush tributes.
