One of the tracks off of the freshly released album Death By Rock And Roll by The Pretty Reckless was a collaboration with Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil and drummer Matt Cameron. The song, entitled “Only Love Can Save Me Now,” was not the only track off the album to feature other notable artists, which included others such as Tom Morello on “And So It Went.”

The Pretty Reckless have a spectacularly grungy sound in “Only Love Can Save Me Now,” which is highly reminiscent of the works of Soundgarden. Taylor Momsen shows off her impressively deep range throughout the song with her raw vocals, which are charged with emotion as she pleads, “I wanna be saved, I wanna be saved,” and then recites the chorus, “From the sound, the sound, the world is spitting out, only love can save me now. Gone so down, lost is all I found, only love, love, love can save me now.”

The track begins with the striking lyrics,” Heaven’s falling out of the sky,” and progresses as a plea to be saved from the world and the sadness therein. Rock ’n roll style guitar backs Momsen’s voice and bursts into a guitar solo towards the end of the song.

Cameron and Momsen worked together previously to cover Soundgarden’s “Halfway There” last May in honor of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell’s death. Momsen also performed alongside Soundgarden members when she sang at Chris Cornell tribute show in January of 2019.

Last year, The Pretty Reckless covered “Loud Love” by Soundgarden. Shortly after, they released an acoustic version of their song “25,” which appeared on their latest album.

Cameron formed a band with Taylor Hawkins of the Foo Fighters called Nighttime Boogie Association. The newly formed group released two tracks last year called “The Path We’re On” and “Long In The Tooth.”
