Dua Lipa has released a video for her song “We’re Good,” which features the singer within an eclectic narrative of a lobster. The song was part of her recently released deluxe version of 2020 album Future Nostalgia, with the new version entitled Future Nostalgia (Moonlight Edition).
The video begins with Dua Lipa performing at an elegant restaurant in an elaborate crystalline outfit and cuts to a fish tank within the restaurant, which contains a few lobsters with differently colored ribbons adorning their claws. The unfortunate lobster is forced to watch as one by one his crustacean companions are removed from the tank and dropped into a cooking pot—and then eaten. Dua Lipa appears singing in vintage green gowns throughout the video as well while the rest of the story unfolds.
As wealthy patrons devour his tank mates, the lobster which the story is centered around, indicated with a red ribbon around his claws, is taken from its abode and placed in a pot to be boiled. But alas, the stovetop refuses to light, and the lobster is placed back into his tank, safe, as the restaurant closes for the night.
Water then rushes into the restaurant, flooding it completely. The video zooms out to reveal that the narrative has been taking place within the Titanic, and the ship is seen sinking behind Dua Lipa who sings from a lifeboat as the liberated lobster swims in the frigid ocean underneath.
The song itself begins with a riff that has a muted, underwater vibe, and soon a catchy and funky guitar enters the mix. Dua Lipa’s strong vocals sit beautifully atop the quirky instrumentals. The song seems to be from the perspective of someone trying to convince a significant other that it’s alright if they each go their “separate ways.”
Dua Lipa appeared as part of Netflix’s 2020 Song Exploder series, and also released a remix edition of her latest album, re-titled Club Future Nostalgia.
Dua Lipa previously released a video for her song “Fever” which appeared on the recent album and was also written with Angèle. DaBaby recently worked together with Dua Lipa as well, appearing in the glitzy video for “Levitating.” Also appearing on the album was the track “Hallucinate,” which was released as a video in July 2020.
