Phoebe Bridgers Shares Mysterious New Video for “I Know The End”

Phoebe Bridgers has released a new music video for “I Know The End,” which was featured on her latest studio album Punisher, released via Dead Oceans. This latest video was directed by Alissa Torvinen, who has worked with the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, A$AP Ferg and Melanie Martinez.

“I Know The End” opens up with Bridgers in a bathtub fully clothed, before she gets out and exits the room she’s in to reveal a row of closets. The video eventually shows her running away someone pursuing her, until she reaches a stage in front of a football stadium. Sonically, this track opens up with a light indie pop feel that gradually builds up into a grand assortment of instruments and strings, in a style reminiscent of Sufjan Steven’s more experimental baroque work.

Bridgers released Punisher a day early in response to the Black Lives Matter movement, where she expressed support and stated “abolish the police.” Her album roll out has been occurring for majority of the year, which saw music video releases for “Garden Song,” “Kyoto” and “I See You.”

“Overall, Punisher shows and reaffirms how talented Bridgers is,” mxdwn reviewer Alison Alber explained. “The lyrics are deep hitting; the music is masterfully arranged. The album has a hold on the audience from the first to the very last note.”

The performer has also debuted tracks outside of her own original work and released a cover of the Bright Eyes classic “First Day of My Life” last month.
