Corey Taylor of the band’s Slipknot and Stone Sour has announced his solo debut album CMFT for an October 2 release via Roadrunner Records. Along with the album announcement, Taylor shared the first two tracks, “Black Eyes Blue” and “CMFT Must Be Stopped,” which features Tech N9ne and Kid Bookie.

Taylor first revealed the album in May, when he said he had been working on completing an entire album while in quarantine. Some of the songs had been written when Taylor had been in high school, while others are more recent.

Taylor sings alone on “Black Eyes Blue,” the song weaving through highs and lows while Taylor belts the chorus while guitars strums roll around. “Black Eyes Blue” finds Taylor singing about searching for one he had lost, realizing he had made a mistake and wanted them back. “I know that there’s no other way/ I know that there is nothing more that I can say,” Taylor sings.

Taylor’s second track swings the opposite direction from “Black Eyes Blue,” the chorus an anthem for supporting one’s self. Taylor takes the first verse, where he describes how he brought himself to where he currently stands and reminisces on hard work. Kid Bookie takes the second verse, throwing in how Slipknot and Tech N9ne had been influences for him. Tech N9ne then enters for the third verse, his quick flow punching each word as he speaks.  The music video for “CMFT Must Be Stopped” had been recorded at Hideout Studio in Las Vegas.

In May, Slipknot created an online version of Knotfest featuring past performances following the cancellation of this years’ music festival due to COVID-19. Taylor had also participated at the Slay at Home music festival in June with Stone Sour.
