Megadeth, Lamb of God and Trivium announced live stream event of pre-taped concerts from past shows to coincide with the initial start date of their now-cancelled tour. The tour was supposed to begin on June 12, but has now been postponed until 2021 due to COVID-19.
Megadeth will be streaming the secret show from 2016’s Saint Vitus Bar while Lamb of God will be streaming their surprise show at House of Vans Chicago earlier this year. Trivium and In Flames will also be joining the livestream event, as they had been part of the original tour, with Trivium streaming their 2019 set at DreamHack Dallas and In Flames streaming their 2019 set from their own Borgholm Brinner festival.
Metal Tour of the Year (now renamed The Metal Tour of Next Year) will be streamed through website featuring all four bands, but will also be available below. New and limited edition merchandise will be accompanying the stream through the website. A portion of the proceeds from the live stream event will go towards Crew Nation, a relief fund set up by Live Nation meant to help crew members who have been put out of work due to the pandemic.
At the beginning of October through the beginning of November, Lamb of God will also be releasing their self-titled album next week on June 19, after having pushed back the original release date due to COVID-19. Previously released singles from the album include songs “Routes,” “New Colossal Hate,” “Memento Mori” and “Checkmate.”
The original tour was meant to span 55 cities, and was going to be Megadeth’s first North American tour since 2017. Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine announced earlier this year he had recovered from battle with throat cancer, and is now cancer free after first being diagnosed in 2019.
