Slipknot and Stone Sour lead singer Corey Taylor has revealed that he has secretly recorded a solo album throughout the coronavirus lockdown, according to Ultimate Guitar. The singer stated this during an appearance on Raise Your Horns with Lzzy Hale.
Taylor stated that while the album will be rock based, it will range stylistically from “harder-edged stuff” to “big, expansive, huge, world-changing guitar songs that you’re going to want to sing along to.” The singer added, “All the songs are things that I’ve written over the years but they didn’t really fit with either band. So it’s the stuff that I’ve just kind of been sitting on. And I realized – I just kind of turned around and I was just like, ‘Geez, I’ve got all these songs.'”
Taylor previously teased a solo album during an interview with Sirius XM in August of 2019. “I’m actually giving serious thought to doing a solo album and a solo run,” he said at the time. “Obviously, it’s not going to happen for a while. I’m actually putting a band together.” The band consists of bassist Jason Christopher of Stone Sour, drummer Dustin Schoenhofer of Walls of Jericho, guitarist Zach Throne, and guitarist Christian Martucciactually of Stone Sour.
Taylor and Slipknot saw the coronavirus pandemic sour their 2020 plans, which included appearences at Rock Fest in Cadott, Wisconsin and Rocklahoma, as well as massive international tour called Knotfest. The band ultimately cancelled their tour because of the coronavirus, which included stops in Asia.
