Today, it has been announced that CHVRCHES are back with new music, which has arrived three years after their last album. The band’s new song, “Roses” is a scathing piece of contemporary social commentary that is a confrontation with the darker undercurrents of Britain, with Mayberry snarling: “raise a glass to delusions of the good days of blood and wine; of pearls for swine.” The song’s Orwellian closing announcement: “If I may command your undivided attention, now we can start,” sets the stage for what’s to come from new material that will be unlike anything the band has released before.

“This is the longest break we had ever taken between albums and when we got together to write new music, we wanted to really push ourselves and not be retreading ground we’d walked before,” says Mayberry. “I really think we achieved that. It feels like the most coherent vision we’ve had as a band. We’re excited to be back.” The band’s upcoming album, Roses, will be out on September 22. The title track tune is surely a taste of what is yet to come from the CHVRCHES upcoming album.
