According to Stereogum.com, alternative R&B singer Kelela has performed cover of Incubus‘ Morning View deep cut “Mexico“. The performance was recorded as part of the artist’s new Spotify Live Room Session, which was recorded down in Los Angeles, CA. As a whole, Kelela‘s take on Incubus‘ ditty is beautiful by how the singer uses her stunning voice to create bold human emotions, while the string section fills the air with stunning sound.
According to theFader.com, considering Kelela’s extensive cross-genre experience, from childhood days in orchestra to her early arc as punk musician before finding critical acclaim in the realms of electronic and R&B, it is fitting that she choose to do a rock cover for her new Spotify Live Room Session. But Morning View by Incubus holds a particularly special place in Kelela’s heart. “This record, I’ve discovered over the years, was gateway record for a lot of us,” she explains. “There’s something about the compositions that speak to a lot of Black people specifically,” said the artist.
