Sheryl Crow just dropped a powerful new song titled “The New Normal,” and she’s not holding back. Teaming up with her longtime band, The Real Lowdown, Crow hits us with lyrics that concern our society today.

The track is joined by steady drums, guitars and Crow’s voice sounding sharp and honest. These musicians have been on the road with her for over 15 years, and their chemistry is all over the song.

The lyrics of “The New Normal” calls out the strange and scary things happening around us, from politics to AI to the way we treat truth and fear. Crow sings, “Is it science fiction or prediction wrapped in George Orwell?” It’s a warning, but it also feels like a wake up call.

“What’s happening all around us is so unbelievably bizarre,” Crow said about the song. “My fear is we’ll start to think it’s normal. And that’s what terrifies me.”

The Real Lowdown helped shape the sound, building on ideas they’ve jammed out during soundchecks over the years. Through music, Crow is able to speak her mind.
