In a shocking development, the woman who accused Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of allegedly raping her at 2000 MTV VMAs afterparty has admitted to discrepancies in her account of the alleged assault. The anonymous woman, who filed a lawsuit against the two moguls last year, acknowledged that she had made “some mistakes” in recalling the events.
This follows attempts from Jay-Z to dismiss the lawsuit, and while she still maintains the core of her allegations, her revised statements have raised doubts.
According to Consequence, the woman initially claimed that she had been allegedly drugged at Diddy’s afterparty and allegedly assaulted by both him and Jay-Z. She also said she fled to a gas station and called her father for help. However, her father contradicted this in an interview, stating that he had no recollection of driving five hours to pick her up that night.
These accusations join mounting number of lawsuits brought against Diddy, including alleged sexual assault, talleged rafficking and alleged harassment.
Additionally, inconsistencies surfaced regarding her claims of speaking to Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden, who was on tour at the time, and the photos from the afterparty not matching her description of the venue.
Jay-Z’s legal team has seized upon these contradictions, calling the story “fabricated.”
In response, Jay-Z himself stated, “This incident didn’t happen,” and vowed to fight the case “from victory, not for victory.”
