According to nme.com, rock band Duran Duran have shared a cover of Talking Heads‘s “Psycho Killer,” which features artist Måneskin‘s Victoria De Angelis.
The track can be found on Duran Duran’s upcoming Halloween themed album Danse Macabre, which is out on October 27. “Psycho Killer” marks the first cover to be unveiled from the upcoming record.
As a whole, Duran Duran‘s latest tune is fantastic by how De Angelis shakes the background with her skilled bass guitar playing and vocal performance while former Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor serenades the ears with his stunning guitar riffs.
In the following statement Duran Duran‘s bassist John Taylor said that De Angelis was “probably the most important electric bassist out there right now.”
The guitarist adds: “I met a couple of the guys from Måneskin at a party and they said, ‘you’ve got to meet our bass player. She’s such a dynamo! I was like ‘what inspired you?’ and Vic said, ‘Tina Weymouth’. So when Psycho Killer made the cut for the album, I thought, ‘I’m gonna ask her if she’d like to have a bass-off!’”
When being asked to perform on the album, De Angelis said it was “such a wild honour. I met John at a party, and we immediately bonded talking about music and bass. I told him Tina Weymouth was my absolute pinnacle of cool, attitude and incredible musicianship all rolled into one, and he told me he also started playing bass inspired by her and she was one of his music idols.”
