According to pitchfork.com, artists Charli XCX and Sam Smith have released their first collaborative single called “In the City,” which is co produce by XCX, Ilya, PC Music founder A. G. Cook, Omer Fedi, and the 1975’s George Daniel.
As a whole “In the City,”is a lovely composition by how the instrumentation sizzles the air with catchy electronic and pop musical vibes while XCX‘s and Smith’s vocals serenades the ears with beautiful melody.
In the article XCX discusses the meaning behind her latest tune.
“The song is about finding the people you truly love and connect with through wild nights out and partying in magical places. It’s about feeling accepted, the magnificence of being welcomed into queer spaces and those once in a lifetime people you get to meet when you’re there.”
The artist first hinted at a collaboration with Smith in her video “Speed Drive” earlier this year. As XCX whips around in a pink corvette, she takes a video call from Smith, who wants to know her thoughts on “the new mix.” Smith also tells XCX, “We’ve got to submit so we can get it out.”
