Amon Tobin’s Only Child Tyrant has shared a new video for their single “Honeycup Troll”. The song is a single, following the band’s release of their 2021 album How Do You Live.
The video features a suitably energetic performance of the song by Only Child Tyrant, who perform with paper masks over their faces. The video is set in a black-and-white landscape, with the band performing under strobe lights (the video features a warning at the beginning about strobing lights, so photosensitive viewers may want to be careful). The song is an ode to ‘90s rock filtered through an electronic lens; its lyrics contain an acidic love letter to internet trolls. “Honeycup Troll” is suitably electric, drawing its audience into its madcap ode to trolling, while also providing a nostalgic glimpse at the rock scene back in the 1990s.
Tobin, who is known for his use of aliases and different artistic projects, released the single last month. In addition to the aforementioned How Do You Live release last year, Amon Tobin’s Two Fingers released new song, “Seesayer”, while Tobin also teamed up with Thys to create a music video for “Departure”.
