Electronic dance duo Sofi Tukker has released a new music video “Sun Come Up,” a collaborative single featuring John Summit which is out now via Ultra. The project was directed by Cameron Uranick, who has worked with HiRSH, Watson, Jaylien and Alex Di Leo.
“Sun Came Up,” reminds the listener of the waning summer days ahead, opening up in the perfect final setting for the season, a yacht. Sunset hits the yacht as scenes of the duo partying on a beach, nightclub and up in a tree, whose leaves have begun changing. This vibe is perfectly matched with the mellow, hypnotic tone of the vocals, as well as its laidback synths and bouncy drum beat.
Although many other artists have held live stream performances during the pandemic, Sofi Tukker have ramped up the schedule of their events, holding near daily streams throughout the pandemic, surpassing over 365 streams during their year-long streaming anniversary in March. These daily streams have not slown down the group’s output however, as they released “House Arrest,” “Emergency,” “Spa” alongside Icona Pop and the Holzbläser-assisted “Caröl Von Holz” during this period.
“We realized that the streams are a huge part of our own mental health and a huge part of our own sense of purpose and just like getting up in the morning and having something to anchor our day around like Tuck said,” the duo’s Sophie Hawley-Weld explained in an interview with mxdwn. “But also to give us a sense of purpose every day has been enormously helpful for us. So it’s been a no-brainer for us to keep going.”
