Pop star Billie Eilish performed today at the Democratic National Convention, following previous performances hosted by the likes of John Legend, Maggie Rogers and Leon Bridges. Right before the performance, Eilish gave a brief speech, urging people to vote, endorsing Joe Biden and stating “Donald Trump is destroying our country.” This performance was also tweeted by Biden.
I’ll just say what @billieeilish said: vote like your life depends on it. #DemConvention pic.twitter.com/5ewebNvQGg

Eilish gave her new single “my future” a live debut at the convention, where she was draped cross a purple light and dressed simply in beige clothing. During the beginning of the performance she sings the song simply while playing on the piano, before the song picks up, as the light switches to yellow, where she is greeted by a more funky pop instrumental, before she fades out the song into a soothing outro.
Her video for “my future” was done in an anime style reminiscent of the popular animation studio Studio Ghibli, who have created films such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro and Ponyo. The track was her first release since “No Time To Die,” the title track for the upcoming James Bond movie of the same name. This accolade is noticeable as Eilish became the youngest artists to create a theme song for a James Bond film.
While Eilish is barely an adult, she has already garnered impressive accolades from across the music industry, winning five Grammy’s in February for her debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? These accolades have also made the performer the youngest artist to sweep all four “Big Four” categories at the event: Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best New Artist.
