According to Pitchfork.com, Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” has spent its 23rd total week atop the Billboard Hot 100, breaking the all-time record that was held by Mariah Carey’s  holiday classic, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The country hit is now the longest-running No. 1 single in U.S. chart history. For 23 years, Carey’s own “One Sweet Day,” which is a duet with Boyz II Men from her 1995 album Daydream, held the title she once shared with Langley, by having 16 weeks spent at number one.

Daddy Yankee and Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito” remix, featuring Justin Bieber, tied the record in 2017 and Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” finally surpassed it the following year by picking up 19 weeks at the top of the charts. “Old Town Road”’s record went largely unchallenged until late 2024, when Shaboozey tied it with “A Bar Song (Tipsy).” All the while, every holiday season since 2019, “All I Want for Christmas Is You” had been steadily picking up more weeks at number one until, last year, Carey finally got her crown back.

Langley released “Choosin’ Texas”back in October 2025, as the lead single from her third studio album, Dandelion. The song entered the Billboard charts the following month and first hit its peak position back in February. Dandelion was also the number one  album in the country for two weeks in April.
