Today. Bloc Party has released their new single, “Pigwig,” which is the final song to be lifted from their forthcoming album, Anatomy Of A Brief Romance, ahead of its release on September 11, on the newly formed record label Contagious Music in standard and limited edition vinyl, CD and digital formats. The ditty is about the moment of realizing that you have been hit by a very big love,” explains Okereke. “Almost as if it’s against your will.”
The artist adds: “During our relationship, Pigwig was my pet name, after the Beatrix Potter character, who is the partner of Pigling Bland, it is an inside joke that meant a lot to us at the time. Looking back this song is probably one of the sweetest on the album as it recalls a memory of a romantic seaside trip at the most magical point of our relationship. But soon enough, the mood turned and doubts crept in, before eventually a catastrophe brought it all crashing down. What follows is heartbreak, the realization that what they once had is gone, and finally, eventually, the healing begins.”
