According to NME.com, Fontaines D.C. surprised their fans when they brought out Kurt Vile for the song, “Roman Holiday” during their set at La Route Du Rock. The Dublin band closed out the final night of the festival at Fort de Saint-Père in France on August 15, while Vile and his band, The Violators, performed on the same stage earlier in the day. Then, Vile appeared during Fontaines’ set and played “Roman Holiday” with the band.
The collaboration was fitting, as Fontaines frontman Grian Chatten has spoken about the “Skinty Fia” song being substantially inspired by Vile in the first place. The set also saw Fontaines once again air the two new songs they recently debuted at their first headline show of 2026, “Marianne” and “Six Shot Morning’. Based on the video, both parties are having fun performing because the audience ate up their energy and the duo seemed to enjoy how much the music touched some people lives. On another note, could the performance mean a possible collaboration? Time will tell.
