The infamous music festival Lollapalooza has returned for its annual run. Since Thursday, it has hosted several notable artists on its stages, including The Smashing Pumpkins. The alternative rock band took over the festival’s Bud Light Stage for their headlining set yesterday (July 31st), and they didn’t do it alone. Joining the band throughout the night were Olivia Rodrigo, Yungblud and Melissa Auf der Maur, per NME.
Six songs into their seventeen-song set, the band brought out Yungblud to perform “Luna” from their 1993 album Siamese Dream. The English singer-songwriter had his own solo set earlier in the night and told the crowd, “This is a fucking dream come true.” Yungblud, clad in a black long-sleeved shirt and pants, sang along to the lyrics for an energetic, responsive audience. He’s listed the band’s Siamese Dream as an inspiration for him before, and collaborated with the Pumpkins earlier this year for “Zombie.”

Later in the night, Billy Corgan gave a short, warm introduction for pop icon Olivia Rodrigo before she came on stage to perform “Thirty-Three” from The Smashing Pumpkins’1995 album Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness. As Corgan strummed the acoustic guitar, Rodrigo gave a beautiful rendition of the song while clad in a flowy, sheer dress.

Joining them for their final song, “The Everlasting Gaze,” was their former touring bassist Melissa Auf der Maur. She’d joined them for the same song two days prior for a show before Lollapalooza.
