According to StereoGum, the organizers behind last year’s Capulet Fest are finally giving refunds to fans after reaching a deal with the Connecticut Attorney General. The festival, which was supposed to take place in 2023 at the Thompson Speedway, completely fell apart just days before it was supposed to happen.
Big bands like All That Remains and Sick Puppies were on the lineup, but one by one, artists started dropping out. Many said they hadn’t been paid and couldn’t get clear answers from the people running the show. Then, the venue stepped in and confirmed the whole thing was canceled. Fans who bought tickets were left confused, disappointed and of course, out of money.
Things got serious when the state got involved. Connecticut Attorney General William Tong took legal action against Capulet Entertainment, saying they misled fans and kept selling tickets even after knowing the event was falling apart.
Now, thanks to the settlement, anyone who bought a ticket will be able to get their money back. The company also agreed to follow stricter rules if they ever want to put on another event in Connecticut.
For fans who felt ignored and let down, this refund is a long time coming. While it doesn’t erase the chaos of last year, it gives them some form of justice.
