Former band member of The Beatles, Ringo Starr, has pointed out inaccuracies in the new, upcoming Beatles biopic and asked for them to be changed, according to an article by NME. Starr had pointed them out to the director, Sam Mendes, who is working on the film. Mendes is set to make four Beatles films and the cast list is already set. Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, Paul Mescal will play Paul McCartney, Barry Keoghan will play Starr and Joseph Quinn is set to play George Harrison.
Starr had already worked with Mendes for a couple of days, just to go over the script for the drummer’s individual film. That way, the drummer would be able to point out any inaccuracy that the film may include from his perspective. For Starr’s individual film, it was said he did not offer any extensive notes to Mendes to ensure that it was an accurate representation of his life, especially when it came to his childhood and growing up in Liverpool. He also did not add that many notes when they wrote about his first marriage to Maureen Starkey Tigrett. “He had a writer — very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I,” said Starr. “That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that.’” After he made those comments, the crew went back to the script and made edits. After the edits were made, Starr was satisfied with the results. The films are expected to be released in 2028.
