The biggest night in music is only a couple of months away, and the biggest names of the occasion were just released. Billboard just shared the Grammy nominations for 2022, and young artists are racking up major nominations. Olivia Rodrigo and Finneas, particularly, both received nominations for album, record and song of the year.
The two artists were also nominated for Best New Artist, as was Japanese Breakfast, who released the critically-acclaimed Jubilee in June. She also shared the soundtrack for the video game Sable in October.
These are the “big four” nominations, and each comes with an impressive list of nominees. Brandi Carlile was also nominated for Record of The Year for “Right on Time” from In These Silent Days. In celebration of this album, Carlile is going on a North American tour in summer 2022.
St. Vincent’s Daddy’s Home was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album, and its producer Jack Antonoff, who also produced Lana Del Rey’s Chemtrails Over The Country Club was nominated for producer of the year.
Mastodon’s “Pushing The Tides” was nominated for Best Metal Performance, one track from their album Hushed and Grim. Before the album release in late October, the band also shared the track “Sickle and Peace,” solidifying the album’s dark themes.
All categories and nominations for the 2022 Grammy Awards are listed below. The award show will take place on Jan. 31 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
