Phoebe Bridgers is being sued for alleged defamation by record producer and owner of Sound Space studios Chris Nelson. Nelson claims the signer falsely accused him of abusive behavior last October. According to NME, the producer is seeking $3.8 million (£2.8million) in damages from the singer-songwriter. He claims Bridgers “intentionally used her high-profile public platform on Instagram to publish false and defamatory statements” about Nelson “in order to destroy his reputation.” Bridgers’ team has not responded to the allegations.
Bridgers is set to play the Austin City Limits Music Festival these next two weekends, alongside headliners George Strait, Billie Eilish, Tyler, the Creator and Rufus Du Sol.
She recently gave her spin on Bo Burnham’s “That Funny Feeling,” with all of the proceeds from the song will be donated to several Texas Abortion Funds. Organizations include Texas Equal Access Fund, The Bridge Collective, Clinic Access Support Network, West Fund, Jane’s Due Process and Fund Texas Choice.
She also contributed to The Life Is Strange: True Colors official soundtrack, joining Girl on Red, mxmtoon, Angus & Julia Stone and Novo Amor. In September, the singer also dropped her cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters,” from their recently released album The Metallica’s Blacklist, also a charity album.
