Madlib Unveils Old-School Collaborative Track With Declaime “All Over the World”

Hip Hop duo Madlib and Dudley Perkins, aka Declaime, have just released their new single “All Over The World.” This single is part of their upcoming album called In The Beginning (Vol.1), which is said to be filled with old material that the two worked on together in the ’90s.

“All Over the World” is a nostalgic, old school hip hop track – everything from the slow beat, smooth, monotone verses and record scratches makes this a top-notch ’90s hip hop production.

This is not the first collaboration Madlib has done this year. Last month he and retired rapper Logic got together and produced their track, “Raddest Dad,” under the name MadGic. In April, the pair released another track called “Mars Only Part 3,” and also hinted at a possible MadGic album that may be released later this year.

In December 2020, Madlib announced a collaboration between him and electronic musician Four tet in which the two would release an album called Sound Ancestors. The first single to come out of that album was “Road of the Lonely Ones,” which came out on Dec. 14, 2020 and showcased the pair’s blend of hip hop and use of instrumentation samples such as guitar, vocals, and drum loops. On January 4, they dropped their second single, “Hopprock,” which, according to MXDWN, “Combines the signature sampling of Madlib, with psychedelic and distorted moments, that are contrasted with Four Tet’s experimental electronica.”

Following “Road of the Lonely Ones” and “Hopprock,” Madlib and Four tet released “Dirtknock” on January 22, just one week before the release of Sound Ancestors on January 29. The album featured 16 tracks, including the 3 singles released by the duo.

When including the song he produced for Black Star called “Automatic,” Madlib has done a totals of four major collaborations so far, and the new project with Declaime will be another addition to an already busy schedule.

Declaime has worked on many other projects in the past, including A Lil’ Light (2003), Expressions (2012), Young Spirit (2017) and Black Love and War (2019). According to BrooklynVegan, the new album will feature unreleased songs that only existed on B-sides and mixtapes.

In The Beginning (Vol.1) is set to be released on July 2.
