Death metal band Cannibal Corpse has released their new single, titled “Murderous Rampage.” The grizzly track comes from their upcoming fifteenth studio album, Violence Unimagined. The album is set to be released on April 16 via Metal Blade Records.
Bassist Alex Webster explains that the album “really follows the path we’ve been going down for a few years now.” He goes on to say, “I think we approach the writing in a similar way most every time: each of us try to write the heaviest, most memorable songs we can. We want each song to have its own identifiable character. Showing my age, I like to say you can ‘drop the needle’ on any point of one of our albums and quickly tell which song you’re listening to.”

The fast and brutal track embodies the character of Cannibal Corpse. Gory lyrics like “Stale blood-drained bodies rotting” and “Slaughtered for no fucking reason,” tell the story of a murderous rampage where listeners hear of “savagery unleashed.”
Heavy and incessant, lead singer George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher’s vocals pack a punch as he bellows out the gruesome lyrics. The rest of the band keeps up, as the song moves through the bloody narrative.
The group released an NSFW music video for their track “Inhumane Harvest” in February. The horror-filled video is not for the faint of heart, delving into the human organ trade and directed by David Brodsky.
The band’s album Butchered At Birth is set to appear in an exclusive box set called VMP Anthology: The Story of Metal Blade. The box set will feature other classic Metal Blade albums such as GWAR’s America Must Be Destroyed, King Diamond’s Voodoo and more.
Cannibal Corpse recently replaced their former guitarist Pat O’Brien with Hate Eternal’s Erik Rutan, due to legal troubles O’Brien faced in 2018. Rutan stated in February that his other band Hate Eternal “will absolutely continue on” despite his transition into Cannibal Corpse.
