Nasty Cherry Release New Music Video for “Better Run” Alongside New EP Season 2

Pop girl-group Nasty Cherry released the “Better Run” video and their new EP, Season 2. “Better Run” is from the group’s five-song EP, released Friday.

The electropop single contains elements of synthpop. It warns a potential love interest that even though the pair are attracted to each other, they can’t be together, because the singer will break their heart.

The music video was filmed in Downtown Los Angeles. It shows Gaby Bechtel, lead singer, on the street and on the roof of a building. Filmed at night, the video shows an empty street and, similar to the song, communicates a message of loneliness. Bechtel and the male driver, despite showing chemistry, resist making a connection. Drew Pierce directed the video, Ian Fisher served as producer and Doug Emmett provided cinematography.

The band consists of Bechtel as lead vocalist, guitarist Chloe Chaidez, Debbie Knox-Hewson on drums and Georgia Somary on bass. The group first appeared in the Netflix series I’m With the Band: Nasty Cherry. The show narrates their rise to stardom and their discovery by Charli XCX, who wanted to form a girl group she could have looked up to as a child.

It is a similar concept to Simon Cowell making One Direction and P. Diddy forming Danity Kane. The six-part docuseries features the girls writing and recording music and their day-to-day lives from the moment they were discovered to finding their fame on social media.

Filming began in 2018, and it premiered in November. That month, they released their debut EP, Season 1, under Charli XCX’s label, Vroom Vroom Recordings/Atlantic. The group subsequently announced tour dates for early 2020.

Nasty Cherry released their first single of the year, “Shoulda Known Better,” which is also from Season 2. They soon followed it with “I Am King.” They were scheduled to perform at SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas, in March.
