Sónar Music Festival Announces 2019 Lineup Including Kaytranada, Vince Staples and Underworld

Sonar Music Festival is set to take place July 18-20, 2019 with 130 live performances set in two parts, Sonar by Day and Sonar by Night. The show is an arts, design, and electronic music festival held annually in Barcelona, Spain.

Sonar Festival is described as a pioneering cultural event with a unique format and content. Its first class reputation as a leading reference for international festivals is thanks to its attention in curation, combining a playful nature, the avant-garde, and experimentation with newest trends in dance and electronic music. The three-day congress is dedicated to creativity, technology and business running concurrently since 2013. Tickets are available here.

Sounds of Sonar 2018 can be heard below. Sergio Caballero, Enric Palau and music journalist, Richard Robles started the festival in 1994 where there were over 60,000 attendees.

The show was a huge success and has continued to grow year by year. The Sonar by Day takes place in the CCCB and its surroundings, including the Plaza dels Angels. Sonar by Night takes place at the Fira Gran Via L’Hospitalet and Sonar by Day at Fira Montjuic.

Dozens of artists will be performing including Vince Staples, Underworld, Kaytranada and many more. Kaytranada is scheduled to perform at Ceremonia Festival on April 7, 2019 and FORM from May 10-12, 2019 hosting its annual creative retreat and festival in the experimental eco-city of Arcosanti, in Yavapai County, Arizona.

Long Beach rapper Vince Staples recently released his third studio album FM! and new music video for track “FUN!” which features Bay Area rapper E-40. The electronic music group Underworld who is also performing at the festival will also perform at Lollapalooza Berlin in September 7-8, 2019. The group has been releasing music since the 1990’s, putting on amazing shows over the past two decades. British electronic duo Underworld and “Godfather of Punk” Iggy Pop collaborated on Teatime Dub Encounters, a mix of basic house and techno instrumentals.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
