Meat Puppets Original Lineup Returns With New Video for “Warranty”

Meat Puppets’ released a new video for “Warranty” a track from their new album, Dusty Notes out March 8 via Megaforce. The Puppets’ US tour begins April 4 in Mill Valley, CA, marking the first run since 1995. The original lineup set to perform includes Curt and Cris Kirkwood and returning drummer Derrick Bostrom.

The band’s story began with three kids with a passion for music and punk rock. Bostrom says, “We began to make such a hellacious racket that we knew we were on to something.” At their induction into the Arizona Music & Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2017, the group joined together onstage for the first time in over two decades. Kirkwood says, “It was so intense that even I couldn’t deny it! I remember why we did this. It was magical. It was the psychedelic fuckin’ time machine. Mind-blowing.”

Kirkwood has drawn upon various roots and rock styles with his latest songs, “Warranty,” “On,” “Nine Pins,” “Outflow.” Derrick says, “I consider the Meat Puppets to be a national treasure.”

Keyboardist Ron Stabinsky, a jazz-trained virtuoso is featured on the album, Dusty Notes and Curt’s son Elmo,  complements his father’s spacier explorations. Curt describes the music as “simple yet engaging” songs. Tickets for their upcoming shows are available here.

The band also released “Nine Pins,” a new track which includes the signature folksy and country driven guitars in its instrumentation. A playful synth line contributes to the alternative folk atmosphere that the track creates.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
