Avenged Sevenfold are ready for the Summer music festival tour, with appearances at Impact, Heavy Montreal, and their very own U.S. End of the World Tour featuring appearances from Prophets of Rage and Three Days Grace. Their last record, The Stage, received a special 2017 deluxe edition, and even a nomination for “Best Rock Song” at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
During all this, frontman M. Shadows has been in a legal battle with their former label Warner Bros. According to The PRP, “While the band formed a partnership with Capitol Records for the release of their latest album The Stage, their former label Warner Bros. felt that the band’s attempt to exit their contract together to do so was invalid and launched suit.” The verdict from the case could be a groundbreaking decision and action for artists and their controlling labels.
“Right now we’re still dealing with the label situation, the lawsuit,” Shadows told Billboard, “so we’ve still got a couple of things we have to clean up before we move on to the next record. For us right now we’re going to do this tour and by the time we get to September we’re either going to South America or we’re not, and if we don’t then we’ll start thinking about the next record.” With the court case delayed since last-December to an “as-yet unspecified date,” it looks as if Avenged Sevenfold will try and keep the tour rolling until the case is over and a decision has been made.
