Adult Swim Announces New Noise Singles Program Featuring Melt-Banana, Merzbow, Tanya Tagaq and More

Adult Swim really is the gift that keeps on giving. Aside from the hilarious lineup of shows that have graced the network, the Adult Swim Singles program has blessed us with some incredible music over the years with incredible artists such as Flying Lotus, Earl Sweatshirt even Run the Jewels all releasing original music through the program, and despite the year-long hangover that was 2016, they refuse to stop in their quest to release excellent music, all for free. The program has become a way for more experimental-minded artists to collaborate and push their new music out to larger audiences.

Keeping up the steady stream of releases, the network just announced that they are preparing the release of a new free album, entitled NOISE, and are set to release the project in just a few short days on December 20th.

The album will feature contributions from artists such as Arca, Tanya Tagaq, Dreamcrusher, Melt-Banana, Merzbow, Noveller, EYE, Pharmakon, Prurient, Wolf Eyes and several others.

Up first in the release of singles is noise/experimental outfit clipping. featuring SICKNESS on the track “Body For The Pile.” The track starts with loud, abrasive distortions and screeching until the minimalist, teetering, sinister beat drops allowing clipping. to come in with their signature dizzying flow and exceptional wordplay.

The album was curated by Adult Swim writer/producer Laura Sterritt, who constructed the project with the view of not only making noise a common thread among the tracks, but to make noise a sub-genre all on its own “within which all lines intersect.”

The ranging genres of the artists picked reflect this idea, as their catalogs span across hip-hop, dance music, industrial, traditional music, and classic noise music. “The project serves as a beacon for those integrating noise to enhance their productions. This approach makes NOISE one of the most accessible projects to both avid listeners as well as a new and open-minded generation of music lovers who consume multiple genres,” Adult Swim said in a statement.

While the noise genre is still relatively young within music, Adult Swim has always had an ear to the pulse of underground music, and the new album should be a huge boost in fans for the artists pushing to get their style more accepted within the music community as a whole.
