LISTEN: The Sadies Releases New Song “It’s Easy (Like Walking)” Featuring Kurt Vile

The veteran psych-folk group The Sadies have collaborated with a revolving door of artists over their two-decade career. One such notable artist is none other than Kurt Vile, who first supported The Sadies on tour “about a thousand years ago,” says Sadies’ Dallas Good.

Now, the two unite on the track “It’s Easy (Like Walking),” making this the second single from their upcoming 10th studio album, Northern Passages.

The track itself is lush, with jangly chords strummed lackadaisically and bright, glimmering keys mixing with splashy, open drumming to create a wavey, psychedelic backdrop for Vile to flow into. His talkative, pointed and almost percussive vocals provide a nice counterpoint to the instrumentals, although they both combine to create a tone and sound that’s mimics the flow and motions of the aurora borealis that covers the single artwork.

This collaboration was long overdue explains Good.

“We always talked about collaborating one day so I forced his hand by sending him this finished song with a very short deadline attached. He delivered, as he always seems to do.”

The track was recorded in Good’s parents’ home north of Toronto back in the winter of 2015. This secluded and stress-free environment helped shape and hone the easygoing vibe, and allowed the band to create this feeling consistently across the album.

The Sadies were recently announced as part of the lineup for the Stagecoach 2017 festival, and you can check out the new single and the tracklist for Northern Passages below.
