Flying Lotus Announces Summer 2016 Tour Dates

Electronic superstar Flying Lotus has announced a fresh batch of tour dates for the summer 2016 season around his many previously-announced festival appearances. In addition to the headlining Brainfeeder appearances Oakland, CA and Los Angeles, CA, he will be performing at Levitation Vancouver, Spring Awakening in Chicago, Bass Center in Colorado, in Brooklyn at Afropunk Fest and both weekends of Austin City Limits.

Flying Lotus’s own Brainfeeder record label tweeted the news earlier today:

The trio of Brainfeeder events will feature an impressive lineup: the classic funk stylings of the legendary George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Brainfeeder’s resident bass guitar wizard Thundercat, avant-garde hip-hop group Shabazz Palaces and acclaimed Southern California DJ and electronic musician The Gaslamp Killer. Brainfeeder has recently released acclaimed albums like a collaborative LP from Kneebody and Daedelus and Kamasi Washington as well as the previously mentioned Thundercat and The Gaslamp Killer.

It has been two years since Flying Lotus last released an album, 2014’s acclaimed You’re Dead!. The electronic musician has kept up a steady pace of an album release every two years, so perhaps these upcoming tour dates are a precursor to a new LP. He recently produced a track with Smoke DZA that served as an endorsement for progressive Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, entitled “Outside My Mind | 4 -19 – 2026 | Petty Murphy.”
