After a stellar performance on the Coachella stage, American singer/songwriter Meg Myers has decided to continue her success streak and released her new single “Motel”, a brand new song that is accompanied by a fresh music video to go with it. Myers plans to take the Gobi stage by storm yet again this upcoming weekend, as Coachella Music Festival finishes off its last weekend in the Indio desert. In addition, to help support the new single, Myers intends to perform “Motel” on the Conan show April 26th (11PM ET/8PM PT).
According to Pitchfork, Myers completely took over the Gobi stage this past weekend with an absolutely breathtaking performance, stating “Meg Myers ruled the Gobi tent. The Nashville-born songstress won over the crowd with her smart, incisive alt-rock, showing why she has such an obsessive cult following.” Fans could not get enough of her as she performed song after song, capturing more and more audience attention.
It seems like the Gobi stage just was not enough of a splash for her standards, so Myers chose to release her new single “Motel”. as well as the music video for it, marking it as her fourth single of her debut album SORRY. The music video features Myers herself dancing in front of what seems to be a giant projector on the wall, moving to the images that are engulfing the background, and as the video goes on it continues with images of what audience believe to be her inner thoughts as the lyrics are sung by her.
All of Meg Myers’ previously released singles (“Desire”, “Sorry”, and “Lemon Eyes”) have all gone Top 15 on alternative radio. Myers’ music feels like a more refined version of Florence and The Machine, with similar vocal tones and musical beats, but with more occasional EDM-lite drops in her chorus. However, what makes her more impressive than Florence and The Machine, and the hot ticket that she is right now is her “Tremendously powerful”(Rolling Stone) live act that she puts on. With good reason, Myers spent most of last year hitting the road, headlining at small venues, and supporting acts such as Royal Blood, Broods, AWOLNATION, and the Pixies, while also performing at the top festivals, she has taken the time and put in the work to create a truly unique live musical experience.
With the new single and her new LP set to be released in the near future, one can expect that the singer/songwriter will continue to blaze the trail of her career and hopefully announce another tour for her fans to catch her at.
