The Jesus and Mary Chain will be performing at the Fonda Theatre on August 18 as part of the FYF Sideshows taking place in the month of August. A Place To Bury Strangers & Willow Robinson will be opening up the show. The FYF Sideshows lead up to the main FYF festival. It will take place at the Los Angeles State Historic Park in Chinatown on August 22 and August 23.
The Scottish alternative rock band formed in East Kilbride in 1983 and quickly became known for its melodic wall of noise, which inspired bands such as My Bloody Valentine in the early 90s. The Jesus and Mary Chain got picked up by US college radio and, amongst the heavy rotation playlist, a North American Tour followed.
Although the band has not released an album since 1998, lead singer Jim Reid revealed that he and his brother had written songs for a new album.
“We have a bunch of new stuff,” said Reid. “There’s been this album that everyone has talked about.”
Be sure to catch the this influential group when they visit the Fonda Theatre later this month.
