The Strokes perform their song ‘Lonely In The Future’ live in full for the first time. NME reports that the band had packed audience for the festival at ZOZO Marine Stadium in Chiba, opening their eighteen-song set with the track. The band also played in jams while performing including a shortened version in “South Korea’s Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival back in August 2023, but this was the first outing for it in its finished form” (NME). Elsewhere in the Summer Sonic set, they played just two other songs from ‘Reality Awaits‘, in the form of ‘Going Shopping’ and ‘Dine N’Dash’, alongside classics such as ‘Reptilia’, ‘Last Nite’ and ‘Someday’ (NME). “‘Lonely In The Future’ is the third track on ‘Reality Awaits’, which was released last month and is the band’s first LP in six years and the follow-up to 2020’s ‘The New Abnormal'” (NME).

Last weekend, Charil XCX made an appearance during the bands set of Outside Lands and performed ‘Take It Or Leave It’ “and Julian Casablancas introduced her as “the queen of album sales” (NME). “The Strokes play at the Osaka leg of Summer Sonic today (August 15) before continuing their ‘Reality Awaits’ world tour, which reaches the UK in October and includes two nights at London’s O2, followed by shows in Newcastle and Manchester. See all the dates here and find any remaining tickets here (UK/Europe), here (North America) and here (elsewhere)” (NME).
