Boy George’s Bandcamp account has been deactivated after releasing an AI-generated song in support of Israel on the platform, which they removed. According to Stereogum, the 80s pop singer fired his label manager, Tony Pontius, for refusing to let him release “We Will Dance Again.” The single reportedly proclaimed the singer’s backing of Israel and directly denied the use of the word “genocide” to describe Israel’s military actions against Palestine and the humanitarian crisis it has caused in Gaza. 

Boy George took to social media to voice his dismay at the removal, saying it was “so disappointing.” He continued by letting fans know that he is still trying to officially release the song and encouraged them to spread copies or recordings of it if they made any before it was deleted. “Play it everywhere,” he said. “Just get it heard.” In the caption, he tagged Bandcamp and wrote, “What a bunch of c^^^s!”

According to receipts from an individual who claims to have successfully reported the song to Bandcamp, the platform removed the song, not because of its political nature or message, but because it violated their strict no-AI policy.
