Linkin Park is back! The legendary rock made recently made their grand return with a secret show this past week. Following their performance, the band released new music and new tour dates. One tour date is set to take place at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California on Wednesday, September 11.
After seven years away, Linkin Park made their grand return to the stage with new music and new band members. Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell, and Joe Hahn remain as the core founding members of the band with the addition of new drummer Colin Brittain and vocalist Emily Armstrong. The band has reportedly been unknowingly recording new music and have kept things under wraps since 2019.
After teasing the entire world with a 100 hour countdown, fans were quick to pick up on the hints of a September 5 date. Select Linkin Park Underground members were randomly chosen to experience the secret live return of Linkin Park at a secret location later revealed to be a sound stage at Warner Brothers. On Thursday, September 5, those selected to receive a ticket also received instructions and directions to a parking structure. Once arrived, fans were checked in and loaded onto shuttles that took them to the undisclosed stage. The performance was livestreamed globally on YouTube followed by the premiere of the music video for the new single “The Emptiness Machine.”
Linkin Park has kept the surprises going as they also announced a new album, From Zero, out November 15 via Warner Records. The album will be the band’s first release since 2017’s One More Light. The new album references the band’s beginnings as their first name was Xero, but also welcomes a new journey. From Zero harnesses Linkin Park’s signature energy of their past, present and future officially launching a new era for the group.
The band has also announced world tour for 2024. Six dates have been announced. The tour kicks off with another Los Angeles performance, this time taking place at the Kia Forum on September 11 followed by New York’s Barclays Center on September 16, Germany’s Barclays Arena September 22, London’s The O2 on September 24, Seol’s Inspire Arena on September 28, and Bogota’s Coliseo Medplus on November 11. Shinoda has revealed that the world tour shows will last over two hours long and include a different production than what fans saw during the September 5th performance.
