Just a few days ago, Ty Segall dropped his new album, Harmonizer, and today the singer further excited his fans by sharing a new video for his single “Feel Good,” featuring his wife, Denée Segall. He also announced an upcoming tour that will kick off on September 5th in Los Angeles and will conclude on July 5th, 2022, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ty Segall will also perform at the anticipated metal festival Psycho Las Vegas this week on Friday.
Harmonizer was a surprise release by the garage rock artist on August 3rd. It is his first album in two years. Mxdwn’s album reviewer Grace Galarraga called the album “a good surprise. Each song crawls to the other, creating new sounds inspired by old ones. Segalls sound is original and odd, but not afraid to be so, making it an album to be proud of.”
“Feel Good” features the cool vocals of Denée. It is one of two songs on the album that feature her vocal talent. The video shows the Segall’s taking a midnight drive together. The video looks like a ‘60s technicolor drama/thriller. But it all seems to fade into the background, just because of the fantastic chemistry between the couple. When Denée sings, “Being with you makes me feel good,” and her husband emphasizes the good, the audience can feel that this is actually the case. The “I love my wife” sticker on his car is just a neat little detail that increases the viewer’s experience. Once Denée takes over the car and drives, we can only imagine where the journey will take them.
The singer herself says about the song, “‘Feel Good’ is about allowing oneself to be confident and unrestrained in regard to whatever makes them feel good, be it emotionally, physically, or beyond. It’s also about extending this sentiment to another who might desire this same sort of freedom, but needs a little encouragement. It’s an ode to the joy that comes from loving and supporting one another unconditionally.”
Going off this comment, the video matches the song perfectly.
