Maryland’s annual Deathfest has announced its initial lineup for 2019 with Full of Hell, Cro-Mags and Scour set to play. The four-day festival will take place Memorial Day Weekend, May 23rd-26th in Baltimore, MD. The festival will take place at the same venues as this year, the Rams Head Live and Baltimore Soundstage. Other bands set to play include Bethlehem, Blood Brutality, The Chasm, D.R.I., Frightmare, Grotesque Organ Defilement, Guttural Secrete, Hideous, Immolation, Indian, Mortician, Outre-Tomb, Pestilence, Skaphe, Squash Bowels, Sulaco,Tomb Mold, Unanimated, Vault Dweller, Violator, and Vomitory according to the PRP. Early bird tickets are on sale now on the festival’s website.
2019 marks the festival’s 17th year and has showcased over 500 bands from 25 different countries. This year’s festival included performers Eyehategod, Bloodbath, and Coven. In previous years, the festival has hosted Morbid Angel, Venom, Autopsy, Testament, and Mayhem. “MDF is a showcase of what extreme music, both new and old, is capable of.” Sister festivals have even been created since MDF’s start,” stated on their website. The festival has also expanded to California and The Netherlands, which started in 2016. California’s version has included Samael, S.O.B. Nuclear Assault, Merciless, and Agoraphobic.
Full of Hell most recently released a collaborative project with rock band The Body called Ascending a Mountain of Heavy Light late last year. Cro-Mags recently wrapped up their tour with 2018’s featured Deathfest performer Eyehategod. Scour released their latest Red EP late last year as well and are set to play the Rokslide Festival in Europe this summer, along with The Gorillaz, Eminem, David Byrne, Bruno Mars, and Kali Uchis just to name a few.
